Overview
Gynecologic oncology is a specialized field of medicine that focuses only on cancers of the female reproductive system, notably ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer and vulvar cancer. As specialists, they are generally the most appropriate type of physician to treat these kinds of cancers.
The Society of Gynecologic Oncologists is a professional organization for gynecologic oncologists, and the Gynecologic Oncology Group is a professional organization for gyn-oncs as well as other medical professionals who deal with gynecologic cancers.
