Dr. Carla Vorsatz is a Brazilian physician from Rio de Janeiro. Graduated in Medical School with a specialization in Infectious Diseases, both courses attended at the Universidade Federal Fluminense, Niterói. She has extensive experience in Infectious Diseases, HIV/AIDS, Clinical Research, and Emergency Medicine. Dr. Vorsatz's experience includes working as attending physician in wards, outpatient clinics, centers of excellence in medical research, Emergency Services in General Hospitals, Emergency Care Units, and in the streets at the Rio de Janeiro City Street Population Assistance Program.
Dr. Vorsatz has worked for almost 9 years in clinical trials in HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis and has been Clinical Manager for several clinical trials. In 2010 she has been the Clinical Manager for the six Brazilian sites for the study REFLATE, the first collaborative clinical trial on HIV/TB between the Brazilian Ministry of Health (Ministério da Saúde do Brasil) and the research agency ANRS (Agence nationale de recherche sur le sida et les hépatites virales) from the French government.
She held a private practice from 2003 to 2019, having moved from her regular care activities to devote herself to clinical coaching, for medical doctors and patients alike, acting as a specialized second medical opinion in cases of highest complexity, both to hospitalized and outpatients.
Dr. Vorsatz is a founding partner of XSTZ (former Milarepa), a medical texts' production company offering the following services: writing, translation, localization, transcreation, proofreading, copyediting, and scientific review for medical texts since 1996. A polyglot with a keen interest in languages and a self-taught translator since 1980, Dr. Vorsatz has extensive theoretical and practical experience with all the stages of production, writing, research, translation, transcreation, editing, post-editing, and scientific review of medical texts. As a part of XSTZ activities, she started a series called #SOStraduçãomédica at Twitter, aimed at helping medical translators from English to Brazilian Portuguese. The hashtag from series may be also followed at LinkedIn, and Instagram.
Currently her main focus is on Medical Education, and since 1996 she is a regular collaborator at Medscape Português, the editorial site from WebMD in Portuguese, both as a translator and as a writer.
Since the beginning of 2020 she started collaborating at WikiDoc as Editor-in-Chief for HIV/AIDS.
