Overview
Imaging studies, such as chest x-ray, may be requested for infected patients with signs and symptoms of lower respiratory tract infection. Abnormal chest X-ray may reveal evidence of infiltration, consolidation, atelectasis, and air trapping.
Chest X-Ray
- Chest X-rays may be normal among most patients with uncomplicated EV-D68 infection.
- Abnormal findings have been reported in approximately 25-50% of patients.[1][2] These findings include:
- Perihiliar infiltrates
- Consolidation
- Atelectasis
- Air trapping
