Causes
Causes of duodenitis include:
- High acid secretion, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
- Some drugs, such as aspirin, ibandronate, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDs), Naproxen and esomeprazole magnesium, Pergolide
- Stress
- Irritative diet
- Alcohol abuse
- H. pylori or giardia infection
- Bacterial infection (often by Helicobacter pylori)
- Viral infection
- NSAIDs
