Secondary prevention strategies following mesothelioma include regular checkups, chest x-rays, and/or CT scans in high-risk individuals.[1]
Secondary Prevention
When mesothelioma is detected and treated early, the chances of successful treatment are better. Recognizing symptoms and getting regular checkups are the best ways to detect mesothelioma early. The sooner symptoms are reported, the sooner mesothelioma can be diagnosed and treated.[1]
High-Risk Individuals
- Individuals who are at higher than average risk of developing mesothelioma because of exposure to asbestos may need to be tested more often than people with average risk.[1]
