Overview
Chest CT scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of DES. Findings on CT scan suggestive of DES include esophageal wall thickening.
CT scan
- Chest CT scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of DES. Findings on CT scan suggestive of DES include:
- Esophageal wall thickening in lower thoracic esophagus (seen in 21% of cases with findings of DES on barium studies). [1]
- Thickening is smooth, symmetric, circumferential of the distal two-thirds of the esophagus with normal periesophageal fat.[2]
