The presence of fever, purpura, petechiae, paleness in physical examination is highly suggestive of TTP.
Physical Examination
Skin
- Bruising may be present even in mucous membrane called purpura
- Pinpoint dots on skin called petechiae
- Paleness
- Jaundice
Heart
- Dyspnea
- Arrhythmia
- Severe complications; sudden cardiac death, myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, heart failure
Neurologic
- No abnormalities
- Moderate signs [1]; speech changes, confusion
- Severe involvement: focal signs, seizure, stroke, coma
