Overview
An ECG may be helpful in the diagnosis of megaloblastic anemia, though the ECG findings are not specific to a diagnosis of megaloblastic anemia. Findings on an ECG suggestive of/diagnostic of megaloblastic anemia include T wave inversions, ST-segment depression, LVH.
Electrocardiogram
- An ECG may be helpful in the diagnosis of megaloblastic anemia. Findings on an ECG suggestive of/diagnostic of megaloblastic anemia include:[1][2]
- T wave inversions
- ST segment depression
- LVH
- Tachycardia (which can be found in a variety of anemia subtypes)
- Vitamin B12 deficiency is associated with hyperhomocysteinemia and can cause acute myocardial infarction. Features of myocardial infarction can appear in ECG.
