Overview
Abdominal MRI may be helpful in the diagnosis of jaundice caused by cirrhosis. Findings on MRI suggestive of cirrhosis include recanalized umbilical vein, dilated portal vein and/or splanchnic veins, esophageal varices, collaterals inside abdominal organ, splenomegaly, and ascites.

- Abdominal MRI may be helpful in the diagnosis of cirrhosis in jaundice. Findings on MRI suggestive of cirrhosis include:[2][3][4][5]
- Cirrhotic liver, showing shrinkage and atrophy of liver
- Re-canalized umbilical vein--pathognomonic
- Dilated portal vein and/or splanchnic veins
- Esophageal varices
- Collaterals inside abdominal organ
- Splenomegaly
- Ascites
