On MRI absence of the extrahepatic bile duct has been proposed as a criterion for the diagnosis of biliary atresia. Studies have reported a sensitivity ranging from 0.93 to 0.95 and a large specificity range from 0.48 to 0.92. However, visibility of part of the extrahepatic bile duct, whatever its diameter, does not rule out biliary atresia. | |||
