There are many complications associated the rabies. Someone that has not been vaccinated against rabies can develop severe complications. Rabies is typically fatal if not treated properly.
Some of the more common complications associated with the rabies infection are as follows:
- Coma
- Respiratory failure
- CSF lactic acidosis
- Poikilothermia
There are also complications that are seen with rabies, but they are not as common as the previous list. These complications are:
- Ileus
- Hypotension
- Diabetes insipidus
- Cerebral edema
- Hypersalivation
- Hyponatraemia
- Cardiac arrhythmias
Some complications don't occur that often, but they should be mentioned as a possibility:
