Appearance
- Patients are usually well-appearing
HEENT
- General examination may show facial tenderness
- Looking in the nose for signs of obstruction and nasal discharge
- Shining a light against the sinus (transillumination) for signs of inflammation
- Tapping over a sinus area to find dull sound
- Physical deformity over mastoid, or facial area
