A positive family history may be present in patients with multiple glomus tumors (autosomal dominant).Symptoms of glomus tumor include hypersensitivity to cold and paroxysmal pain at a well defined site.

- Paroxysmal
- Cold sensitivity
- Reproduced when the lesion is placed in cold water
- May worsen at night
- Extreme point tenderness in the region of the tumor
- Disappears when a tourniquet is applied
- Subungual glomus tumors are particularly painful
- Multiple glomus tumors are usually painless.
