Biopsy

• Biopsy of the lymph nodes is not routinely employed but when taken can aid in the diagnosis of cat scratch disease. Findings in the biopsy include:
  • Nonspecific inflammatory infiltrates
  • Granulomas
  • Micro-abscesses

• Biopsy of the liver and spleen can also be taken if they are involved in the disease process.
