Routine scoliosis screening is now done in middle and junior high schools. Because of screening, many cases that would have previously gone undetected until they were more advanced, have been diagnosed at an earlier stage.
*There are no established measures for the primary prevention of [[scoliosis]].
*As the etiology of adolescent [[idiopathic scoliosis]] (AIS) is unknown and the majority of patients are asymptomatic, healthy, active adolescents, there is no system of primary prevention.
*Maintaining a healthy weight, getting proper nutrition and [[Physical exercise|exercising]] helps prevent development of [[Scoliosis|degenerative scoliosis]].
