Overview
Definitive diagnosis is made using MRI.
MRI
- MRI reveals characteristic signs;
- Double line…two lines located at the periphery of the cavity, outer low signal and inner high signal.
- Penumbra sign… discrete peripheral zone of marginally higher signal intensity than the abscess cavity and surrounding marrow sclerosis.[1]
