1. Acute radiculopathy with any one of the following three findings:

A. Urinary retention
OR
B. Saddle anesthesia (numbess of the buttocks and groin area)
OR
C. Bilateral neurological symptoms
OR

2. Rapid decline in muscle strength in a specific anatomic distribution (not generalized weakness, but weakness in the right leg for instance)
