Overview
- Calcium restriction - This has been earlier postulated to have a positive influence on PXE by reducing the extent of mineralization.[1]
- Combat sports are prohibited to reduce facial trauma which may lead to the development of angioid streaks and retinal hemorrhages.
- Avoidance of risk factors for atherosclerosis such as smoking. Diabetes mellitus and hypertension should be well controlled.
- Avoid ASA, NSAIDs, and other hypocoagulable medications that increase the risk of mucosal bleeding.
