- Usually no treatment is necessary for a lipoma unless the tumor becomes painful or restricts movement.
- Medical therapy of lipoma treatments includes:
- Steroid injections: This treatment can only shrink the lipoma but can not completely eliminate the lump.
- Excision: if they grow very large, or for histopathology to check that they are not a more dangerous type of tumor such as a liposarcoma.
