Overview
There are no EKG findings associated with essential thrombocytosis. ET can cause vasomotor symptoms like atypical chest pain from microvascular occlusion.[1] The symptoms usually respond well to aspirin and should always be differentiated from a typical chest pain of myocardial infarction (MI)[1].
Electrocardiogram
- There are no EKG findings associated with essential thrombocytosis.
- EKG appears normal in ET patients who present with atypical chest pain from micro vascular occlusion.[1] But EKG should always be ordered in ET patients who present with chest pain to rule out other dangerous causes of chest pain like MI.
- Aspirin[1] usually helps relieve the vasomotor symptoms in ET like chest pain, tingling and numbness, vision disturbances, scintillating scotomas, etc.
