Overview
Laboratory findings consistent with cardiac myxoma show anemia, leukocytosis and elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate. However this results tend to be non-diagnostic.
Laboratory Findings
The clinical utility of laboratory tests in the diagnosis of cardiac myxoma is low.[1]
Blood tests
There is no specific blood test for the diagnosis of cardiac myxoma. However, constitutional symptoms are speculated to be associated with the following blood count (CBC) findings:[2]
- Anemia
- Leukocytosis
- Elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)
- C-reactive protein
- Serum Globulin level
- IL-6
