- Nested with delicate vascular septa pattern of growth
- Polygonal cells, round nuclie with coarse chromatin, granular cytoplasm, surrounded by amyloid deposits
- Vascular stroma with hemorrhage, edema, and coarse calcification
- C-cell hyperplasia may be present
- Neck lymphadenopathy
- RET proto-oncogene
