- homogeneously hypoechoic mass with an echogenic thyroid capsule on U/S
- increased uptake on sestamibi scan
- Cellular, homogenous lesions
- Chief cells with a delicate capillary network
- Minimal mitotic activity
- Microfollicles
- No capsular invasion
