Overview
The main causes of cardiac myxoma remain unknown.[1][2] However, in some cases like inherited myxomatosis there is a strong relation with genetic mutations of PRKAR1A gene.
Causes
- There are no established causes for cardiac myxoma.
- About 10% of cardiac myxomas are familial. [3]
- Inherited myxomatosis is caused by a mutation in the PRKAR1A gene.
