Ultrasound may be helpful in the diagnosis of pleural effusion among patients with adenocarcinoma of the lung.^[1]

Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to make images of structures in the body.^[1]

In combination with bronchoscopy (endobronchial ultrasound) to look at and take samples from the lymph nodes in the mediastinum
To look for any fluid in the lungs or chest
