Overview
According to the United States Preventive Services Task Force, screening for tongue cancer is not recommended.[1]
Screening
- Tongue cancer screening is not standard procedure for a health assessment. But if someone is considered at risk for tongue cancer, regular self-exams of the mouth to find unusual sores or lumps is recommended.
- If an unusual sore or lump persists beyond two weeks, a more thorough examination by either a dentist or doctor is recommended.
