Overview
The cause of solitary glomus tumors has not been identified. Multiple glomus tumors are caused by a mutation in the GLMN (glomulin) gene.[1]
Causes
- The exact cause of solitary glomus tumors has not been identified. However, trauma may cause a weakening in the structure of the glomus body, resulting in reactive hypertrophy.[2]
- Multiple glomus tumors are caused by a loss of function mutation in the GLMN (glomulin) gene.[1]
