Overview
Mesothelioma may be classified into several subtypes based on the location (pleural, peritoneal, pericardial, cystic/multicystic, tunica vaginalis testis) and histology (epithelial, sarcomatoid, biphasic).[1]
Classification
Mesothelioma may be classified into 3 subtypes:
- Epithelial: Epithelial variants have a better prognosis
- Sarcomatoid: The spindle cells of the sarcomatoid may mimic fibrosarcoma or leiomyosarcoma
- Biphasic
