Mesothelioma must be differentiated from lung cancer, pulmonary tuberculosis, peritoneal tuberculosis, restrictive cardiomyopathy, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.[1]

- Secondary lesions that can involve the pleura

- Thymoma with pleural invasion
- Pericardial tumors with pleural invasion
- Ewing sarcoma of chest wall with pleural invasion
