In cases of abdominal pain suspected to be appendicitis, imaging diagnostic methods are more cost-effective than physical exams to make accurate diagnostic decisions.
Cost-Effectiveness of Therapy
- For patients in prepaid systems, an abdominal tomography is the most cost-effective strategy to use, with a ratio of approximately $965/diagnosed patient.
- For patients in public system, the abdominal tomography was also the most cost-effective strategy to use, with a ratio of approximately $492/diagnosed patient.[1]
