Overview
The primary preventive measures of tropical sprue include drinking clean water and maintaing hygiene.
Primary Prevention
Tropical sprue is seen in patients with a history of travel to the endemic region and it usually follows an episode of infectious diarrhea. Therefore hygienic measures have to be followed during the visit to a tropical area.
- Drinking clean and filtered water
- Avoid consuming unpasteurized milk or soft cheeses
- Washing hands frequently and effectively
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers
