Overview
24-Hour iodine-123 uptake may be helpful in the diagnosis of autoimmune thyroiditis associated with autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome (APS). Patients of APS with autoimmune thyroiditis present with decreased uptake of iodine-123, which can help in differentiating hypothyroidism seen in autoimmune thyroiditis from other causes.
