Overview

Surgical indications are life-threatening hemoptysis or disease that is unresponsive to medical treatment.

Bronchiectasis Surgery

• Before antibiotic therapy, the mainstay of treatment was surgery
• Indications for surgery

• Life-threatening hemoptysis
• Disease that is unresponsive to medical treatment

• If the disease is very advanced, a lung transplant can be done. If there is sepsis, a double-lung transplant is preferred.
