Overview
Echocardiography/Ultrasound
- Ultrasound may be helpful in the diagnosis of Sjögren's syndrome. Findings on an ultrasound suggestive of Sjögren's syndrome include:[1][2][3][4]
- Hypoechoic and inhomogeneous salivary glands
- Parenchymal inhomogeneity in the submandibular glands
- Focal or diffuse hypoechoic or anechoic foci in glands
- Atrophic submandibular glands (sagittal diameter <8 mm)
- Enlarged parotid glands (sagittal diameter >20 mm)
