Overview
Other Imaging Findings
Positron emission tomography (PET) scan
- PET scan is useful in diagnosis of Takayasu's arteritis by providing valuable information about cellular activity within an inflamed arterial wall even before morphologic changes on other imaging studies.[1]
Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA)
- In patients with TA, MRA shares the similar features of TA with CTA images, and can be used in the diagnosis and follow-up of patients undergoing treatment, especially those who are young.[2]
- The disadvantages of MRA are the contraindications associated with:
- Electronic devices
- Intraluminal stent implantation
- Claustrophobia
