- On April 7,2011, McGuire, long time professional ice hockey coach, scout, and VP of the NHL Central Scouting Bureau died in Toronto from cancer(Leiomyosarcoma),at the age of 58.
- American actress Diana Sands died of leiomyosarcoma at aged 39.
- Irwin Barker,Canadian comedian,died of Leiomyosarcoma, in Toronto on June 21, 2010, at the age of 58."Irwin Barker - That's My Time".
