Overview
Chest, abdomen, and pelvis PET scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of Hodgkin's lymphoma. In some cases a Gallium Scan may be used instead of a PET scan.
Other Imaging Tests
- Chest, abdomen, and pelvis PET scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of Hodgkin's lymphoma. In some cases a Gallium Scan may be used instead of a PET scan.
- Positron emission tomography (PET) is used to:[1]
- Make an initial diagnosis and assess the burden of disease prior to the start of therapy
- Detect small deposits that do not show on CT scan
- Monitor the response to treatment
- Detect recurrences
- Quantitate the size of lymph nodes with precision
- Assess for bone marrow involvement while bypassing the need for a bone marrow biopsy, which is an invasive procedure
