Overview
Effective measures for the primary prevention of Onychomycosis include proper nail care.
Preventive prevention
- keep the nails trimmed and dry.
- Keep the hands and feet dry thoroughly after a bath, especially the areas between the toes.
- Wear the right socks, to absorb the sweat and moisture.
- Using open-toe shoes than closed-toe shoes.
- Avoid picking the skin around the nails.
- Avoid walking barefoot in public places such as showers, pools, locker rooms etc.
- Always washing hands after handling the infected nails
