Physical Examination
Cavernous angioma, also known as cavernous hemangioma, can affect several organs. Diagnosing this condition should be correlated with imaging findings.
Skin
HEENT
*Cavernous hemangioma could cause exophthalmia of the eyes. [2]
- It can cause obstruction of nasal airways and might lead up to epistaxis. [3]
- It can also affect the esophagus and thyroid, showing as a well-circumscribed mass. [4][5]
Lungs
- Cavernous hemangioma can appear as multiple small nodules mimicking some lung masses.[6]
Heart
- A mass can be seen on the mediastinum, or in the atrium.[7]
Liver
- Intra-tumoral hemorrhage can be seen in a person with cavernous angioma.[8]
Adrenal
- This presents as an abdominal mass.[9]
Genitourinary
- Cavernous hemangioma affecting the genitourinary system can present as abdominal pain with hemoglobinuria. [10]
