• Computed tomography (CT) scan with contrast is the best initial imaging test for gangrene.
• Clinically relevant findings seen in CT scan include:
  • Presence of gas
  • Presence of fluid collections
  • Variation in the heterogeneity of soft tissues with the use of intravenous contrast
  • Presence of inflammatory changes underneath the fascia.
