Overview
Polycythemia and oxygen desaturation may be present in the patient with Tetralogy of Fallot. Thrombocytopenia and deficiencies in coagulation factors may also be present.
Laboratory Findings
Oxygen Saturation
The oxygen saturation may be diminished bu the pH and pCO2 are normal.
Hematocrit
The hematocrit usually ranges from 65% to 70% in patients with Tetralogy of Fallot.
Platelet Count
Patients with Tetralogy of Fallot may also have a low platelet count .
Coagulation Factors
Patients with Tetralogy of Fallot may have lower than normal coagulation factors, including lower than normal levels of fibrinogen. The prothrombin time (PT) may be prolonged.
