This test is not done as part of routine evaluation for confusion. It is ordered when no significant cause is established.

• CT head has to be performed before proceeding to lumbar puncture.
• Ct head helps in identifying any lesions of the brain causing confusion like bleeds in the brain, space occupying lesions.
• Aids in identifying associated co morbid conditions of the brain.
• Needed when its tough to get history from patient and other causes cant be established.
• Ordered when patient is not responding to treatment.
