Overview
Sudden antenatal death syndrome or SADS is a term used to describe the death of a fetus when the cause cannot be explained. A fetus which has died may be stillborn, or may be removed from its mother's body surgically. A similar syndrome is sudden infant death syndrome or SIDS, which is a term used to describe the sudden, unexplained death of a healthy infant.
