Overview
Classification
There are three main types of tonsillitis
- Acute: Can either be bacterial or viral in origin
- Subacute: Can last between three weeks and three months. Is caused by the bacterium Actinomyces
- Chronic: Can last for long periods if not treated, is almost always bacterial
