Natural History, Complications and Prognosis
Complications
- Brain damage
- Build-up of fluid between the skull and brain (subdural effusion)
- Hearing loss
- Hydrocephalus
- Seizures
Prognosis
Tuberculous meningitis is life threatening if untreated. Long-term follow-up is needed to detect repeated infections (recurrences).
