Overview
Depending on the presentation, lung cancer should be differentiated from other lung diseases such as pulmonary tuberculosis,[1] lung abscess, and respiratory tract infection. Once lung cancer is confirmed, non small cell carcinoma should be differentiated from small cell carcinoma based on histopathological findings.
Differential Diagnosis
The following list of conditions should be considered as differential diagnoses for lung cancer in general:
- Pulmonary tuberculosis[1]
- Lung abscess[2]
- Pneumonia
- Fungal infection
- Chronic eosinophilic pneumonia[3]
