Smear test
May be obtained from any skin lesion, from the nasal mucosa and/or the ear lobe. This test has a sensitivity of 50% and a specificity of 100%. After collection of the specimen, in order to visualize the bacteria, the Ziehl-Neelsen stain should be used.[1][2][3][4]
