Overview
Nausea and vomiting are not diseases, but common symptoms caused by numerous conditions. Rarely nausea and vomiting may indicate a serious or life threatning condition. The most common causes of nausea and vomiting are food allergies, food poisoning, gastroenteritis, medications, and gastroesophageal reflux.

Life-threatening causes include conditions which may result in death or permanent disability within 24 hours if left untreated.
