Overview
Medulloblastoma may be classified into several subtypes based on WHO histological classification criteria (classic vs variant medulloblastoma) and the molecular subtypes classification criteria (WNT subgroup vs SHH subgroup vs Group 3 medulloblastoma vs Group 4 medulloblastoma).[1][2][3][4][5]
Classification
WHO histological classification criteria
- Medulloblastoma may be classified into two subtypes based on WHO histological classification criteria which include classic medulloblastoma and variant medulloblastoma.
- Other variants of medulloblastoma include desmoplastic medulloblastoma, large cell medulloblastoma, anaplastic medulloblastoma and medulloblastoma with extensive nodularity.[4][5][2]

Molecular classification criteria
- Medulloblastoma may be classified into at least four major subtypes based on molecular classification criteria which include WNT subgroup, SHH subgroup, Group C and Group D medulloblastoma.[1][3]
