Overview
Medulloblastoma may be classified into several subtypes based on WHO histological classification criterion (classic vs variant medulloblastoma) and molecular subtypes classification criterion (WNT subgroup vs SHH subgroup vs Group 3 medulloblastoma vs Group 4 medulloblastoma).[1][2][3][4][5]
Classification
WHO histological classification criteria
- Medulloblastoma may be classified into two subtypes based on WHO histological classification criteria which include classic medulloblastoma and variant medulloblastoma.
- Other variants of medulloblastoma include desmoplastic medulloblastoma, large cell medulloblastoma, anaplastic medulloblastoma and medulloblastoma with extensive nodularity.[4][5][2]

Molecular classification criteria
- Medulloblastoma may be classified into at least four major subtypes based on molecular classification criteria which include WNT subgroup, SHH subgroup, Group C and Group D medulloblastoma.[1][3]
